the mat is light weight and barely holds the wheels of the chair from indenting in the mat. If this mat is used to protect the carpet it should do that; if it is used to facilitate the wheels of the chair rolling on the carpet - not really.
Inexpensive but tough to roll out even after letting it rest for days after delivery

This is an inexpensive mat. It has a lip and tiny spikes for carpet. It comes rolled up in a box. Directions say to let it be inside and warm up to room temp for a few days. I did that. Even after that it was somewhat difficult to unroll it and lay it flat. It still has some memory where it's not completely flat.
The mat is fairly thin and it will 'dip' from my weight (I'm not over-weight) & chair. It can make rolling the chair on the map a bit of an effort. I don't have plush carpet but the mat still moves a little - not as much as my previous one.
Despite the naming issues -- my flat pile carpet does not actually have a lip -- but the mat does and it is vinyl. And the little prongy things go DOWN into the carpet. And it works great. Good value and in all seriousness it does not curl as do some. So good on you Staples.
