170 mm Chair Mat (20362-CC)

The carpet and pad in our house is too thick for the 145 mm chair mat so I replaced it with the 170. The 170 is extremely stiff so that it is shipped flat and without being boxed however it arrived without damage. It still dimples slightly with my 210 pounds but is a great improvement over the 145 mm mat. I was impressed by the one-day delivery.

I purchased this chair mat to replace one that I'd only had for a few months as I could not get the one I had to stay in position. I'm happy to report that after 3 weeks this mat is holding up extremely well. The construction is much heavier duty than my previous one and it seems to be staying in position very well. I'm expecting fairly long life based on m experience so far. Very satisfied with my purchase so far.

This is a nice heavy duty mat. I cannot report on its long term use but right now it is great. It doesn't "roll" or "give" when I roll over it and that is a plus.

Smaller than the dimensions

They advertise the dimensions to include the small under desk tongue. It is not a true 45 x 53...! Chair rolls off the mat surface because it is not big enough as large as I thought as I was purchasing...!

My original Staples chairmat finally gave up the ghost after 6 years so I bought the thickest one they could sell me -- even though my high-backed chair is on industrial grade (read: thin cheap) carpet. I overbought to minimize splintering due to the effects of ozone on plastic goods. I'm glad I did.[...] This mat probably weighs a good thirty-five pounds and unlike the comments by others that their mat was rolled this was perfectly flat. It doesn't bend. It can't. It's too thick.The beveled edge isn't too beveled but that's a problem with my expectations not the mat. You can't make the beveled edge too thin else it will stress and flex when the chair wheels drop off onto the carpet (that's what cracks your mat). This edge was designed to prevent that - and there's no problem transitioning my chair from mat to carpet.I'm glad I went beyond my immediate need -- choosing the extra thickness of this mat was one of the best decisions I have made. The mat doesn't bend under my weight (I'm 185 and my chair's a good 40 lbs) and I'm confident this mat will last longer than the one it replaces.[...]
