The labels says that it is an economy mat for commercial carpeting as found in an office. If you try to use it on the type of carpeting found in a typical home the mat is too soft because the carpet is too thick. I am afraid that over time it will start to develop indentations from the chair wheels. It is good for saving a few dollars as the thicker mat was twice the price but you get what you pay for and need to match the mat with its intended use.
As I said - Time will tell. It appears to have a quality no better than those selling for half the price. My previous pad cracked when used over a carpet & pad. It was half the price of this one.
