Use them when don't need hard sided / stiff protection like when handing CDs to people or mailing several in a box (light weight means smaller postal bills.)

I love these CD sleeves. Went in the store and saw them on sale and decided to try them for the first time and was definitely pleased! They would have been a great value even at regular price so getting them at a discount was just icing on the cake!!!
