I bought these to store my previous year’s paperwork in. I use a plastic filing box with hanging files to file my current year’s paid bill statements bank statements and the like. Then after the new year starts I remove my papers from the plastic filing box which are filed alphabetically and put them into one of these more compact expanding files which has alphabetized slots. Several of these can then be stored one plastic file box.These are sturdy as well as handy because you don’t have to put alphabetized tabs on them.

The Accordion Files are made of thick paper. They have deep pockets and are clearly marked with A-Z for easy access to your filings. We use them in our Dental Office to store receipts from the various companies that we do business with throughout the year. They fit into standard size filing shelves and can easily be retrieved when receipts need to be filed away. We have been delighted to learn that they can be used for more than one year. We remove last year's receipts and place them in an envelope to file away and reuse these sturdy files for several more years.

I purchased this to file my credit card and other financial paperwork. I use one expandable for each year and after 3 years I shred the oldest year’s papers and recycle the empty expandable file for the new year’s paperwork. This new file does not expand as well as earlier folders and I am not sure how well it will hold up. The one I just finally tossed into the paper compost bin was from 2015. I don’t think the new folder will survive 10 years of recycling. But for now it does the job at an acceptable price—hence the 4 stars.
