Plastic chairmat

Easy to find on website. Easy to order. Delivered as promised. Fits its intended place. Is functioning on the floor as expected. Only long-term use will determine whether or not it will hold up over a long period of time. It is a characteristic of plastic chairmats that over time they become brittle and crack. This mat appears to be made of slightly different plastic than our previous also purchased from Staples. Hopefully this one will not crack for another 6 to 7 years.

Improved Chair Mat a Winner

I have an office at home in my bedroom. This is a carpeted space with relatively deep pile carpeting. When I began my business 3 years ago I purchased the cheapest chair mat I could buy at Staples to protect the carpet from the wheels of my office chair. The mat worked okay. It didn't quite fit underneath my desk...it was too wide...so I had to reposition my heavy desk on top of the mat to fit. A bit of a pain. Also the edges behind my chair had a bit of a curl to them so that if I rolled too far backward the mat would catch on my wheels. These edges would also be tripped on if you walked past my desk the wrong way. After 3 years the mat began to crack pretty badly and I knew it would need replacing This spring we had to remove all the furniture from the room to get new carpeting installed. This was the time to get that new mat! In the Staples store they have a hanging display by the chairs where you can check out the mats. I was going for cheapest as my little business needs to remain profitable! I chose this one the Flat Pile Carpet Chair Mat. I thought it looked about the same as the one I was replacing. Was I wrong! This new improved mat is so much better than my old one! 1) The shape of the mat is different so that it fits better under my desk. I didn't have to manipulate my heavy desk to get the mat to fit...it fit perfectly! 2) The plastic material of this newer mat doesn't have the 'curl' problems of the old mat. The mat lies flush against my carpet without any edges for my chair or someone's foot to catch on 3) Overall look is sleeker and more modern than the old. Although I've only had this mat for about week it is doing the job so much better than my old one. The cost was a bargain. Thanks Staples!

Plan on replacing often

If you buy these you have to plan on replacing them every year or two. They crack quite easily leaving chunks of plastic for us to pick up and our chairs get stuck in these ruts. These were a really bad budget decision by me for our offices.

What is there to say about chair mats? They are lazy! They just lay around on the carpet all day. They do not move so you have no choice but to put your chair right on top of them. At least they don't complain! Really the bottom line is it does its job. Howver the thicker your carpet and carpet pad are the more bending the chair mat does until finally it starts to break. Of course the thicker your carpet and carpet pad are the more you need the chair mat. After all it cost a lot less to replace the chair mat than it to does to replace the carpet.

THIS MAT IS VERY DURABLE MY CHAIR GLIDES SMOOTHLY ACROSS IT AND IT DOESN'T SNAG THE CARPETING!
