This item turned out to be the perfect choice for our space and needs. The gripper tips keep it in place and the clear material makes it almost invisible so we can enjoy our lovely room-size medium-pile carpet (with pad). The lip lays flat and has stayed that way. We were a bit concerned because the mat was shipped rolled up and bare (no outside wrapping) but it flattened out nicely after a day or two of unrolling (as much as possible) and being left to relax in a warm room. We are very pleased with this purchase and recommend it.

Great chair mat but when Staples ships it they roll it up and tape it with a really cheap tape that is IMPOSSIBLE to remove. You'll start with your fingernails then a ruler or scrapper of some sort your try a solvent and so on and on... eventually you'll just get frustrated and leave the tape there and it looks terrible for the life of the chair mat. Pro-Tip: Put your favorite poster under your chair mat for a little extra decoration and to let people know that you really do have a life outside work.

Began cracking at 6 months continued to worsen until it was unusable at 9 months. Shortest-lived mat I've ever had by far. Will not buy one of these from Staples again. With their return policy I'm stuck with the loss.
