This is a near duplicate to one I purchased 6 years ago and which began cracking. It cracked where my front chair roller resided most of the time when I worked at my desk. No I'm not heavy - 170 lbs.
I bought this mat to replace a similar one that disintegrated after about five years. I should have bought one with little pegs on the bottom to prevent it from sliding around on the carpet. Now I have to adjust it every day after it has shifted around. My mistake. It does the job allowing my chair to move easily over the carpet.
Each four or five years it's floor pad replacement time as the old one invariably cracks and becomes more difficult to roll a chair over. This is thicker than the one replaced (which had deeper pins into the carpet than this). The carpet "pins on this" are like 1/8" slots positioned 90' from each other throughout the bottom of the unit. After 10 days I noticed that the mat had walked about 4" from where it was placed something the last one never did. So thicker easy to use but every 10 days of so I reposition it where it was originally placed. A minor inconvenience but one to note for mid-pile carpet use.
This product was much better than the former one which was considerably cheaper. It stays put and it is also very easy to clean. We have a large computer desk setup (two desks in one) and it affords me the opportunity of moving around on my desk chair and not move onto the carpet. Prior to this I was not aware that they sell them by the depth and by the size. The older one was much smaller because we had a smaller setup with just one desk. It also blends well into our cream colored carpet. I would certainly recommend this product.
the mat is probably fine for berber or short-hair carpet. I had it for thick carpet and it is not working well. It keeps moving and I need to adjust it daily
Only after two weeks of use the mat has developed these depressions and the chair gets stuck and is difficult to move. I am using the mat in my small home office and the chair isn't very heavy either...... its a task chair. The mat is very thin and the quality if inferior quality. Wish I could return it.
