I purchased this product as a replacement that I thought was similar to a previous Staples chair mat that I've been using. Based on the claim given by Staples it was supposedly a mat that would work on a medium pile carpet. However my opinion that's a bit of a stretch. The rug in my office is certainly what I would describe as medium pile but if I sit my office chair for a while this particular chair mat leaves slight depressions in the mat making the chair a bit cumbersome to roll. Hence it appears the mat is made more for the hard floor than a carpet. Keep that in mind if you are considering it.
