Excellent investment

Definitely worth the money for the extra thickness. Chair glides nicely and the size is perfect for moving around without slipping off the edge of the mat.

Great for my berber carpet.

I bought this Staples 46" x 60'' Extra High Carpet Clear Vinyl Chair Mat to replace a nearly identical mat that I've been using for more than eight years which recently developed a lot of cracks where I roll my chair around. The new mat looks just like my old ES Robbins AnchorBar Professional Series mat right down to the textured surface but the new mat is a lot thicker. I guess my old mat was one of the thinner variants. My berber carpet is 1/4 inch thick over a 1/4 inch non-compressible pad. In this application the heavy mat does not dent at all under the chair wheels. (Neither did my old one.) The clear color is not exactly what I'd call crystal clear. My white berber carpet looks darker through the clear mat (same for both old and new).

Too much hype[...]

I am heavy and have 1/2 inch deep carpet so I ordered a mat for 1 inch thick carpet so as not to dent it too deeply to no avail. My empty chair even leaves shallow dents. It is NOT thick or hard enough. I could have paid 30% less for this quality in a differant brand. I am disapointed and may return it.

High Pile Carpet Chair Mat

This product was much better than the former one which was considerably cheaper. It stays put and it is also very easy to clean. We have a large computer desk setup (two desks in one) and it affords me the opportunity of moving around on my desk chair and not move onto the carpet. Prior to this I was not aware that they sell them by the depth and by the size. The older one was much smaller because we had a smaller setup with just one desk. It also blends well into our cream colored carpet. I would certainly recommend this product.

My carpet is 1/2 inch thick on about 1/2 inch pad. I weigh 150 lbs but my chair wheels sink deeply into the chair mat after only a few minutes making it difficult to move. Average weight chair sinks unoccupied. This product is not suitable for intended use and is mis-represented in its advertising for use on plush carpet.

I would like to say that this is probably the best chair mat I've ever bought. This is our 4th. Most recently I was making due with the cheaper model (which incidentally only lasted about 5 months before we had major cracking issues with it - it was thin and flimsy but that's all they carry in our store so that's what I bought.) I ordered this one online to replace it as it's specs say that it's .17 thick much more heavy duty than the $69- model. I'm so glad I did. I'm not sure why but mine arrived rolled up. I'm not sure how they did that but they did and WHAT A PAIN to unroll. It's VERY rigid. That is why I ordered it though no more sinking yeah! I can tell from previous experience this one will last us at least 3-4 years.

I have high pile carpet & this chair mat is the ticket. it stays put no matter how much you roll on it. it's nice & thick so my chair has no problem getting around on it. my only complaint is the sticky tape that was used to keep it rolled up in order to ship to the store. I used every thing imaginable to get the sticky goo off the mat but there is still a residue. that's real disappointing. I don't like my feet sticking to the mat. someone should come up with a different method for shipping. Small rope might work better.

Exactly the ticket for high pile carpets

The only way to go for high-pile carpets. Don't bother with any of the others as they will crack and deteriorate in only months. This is the second one I have purchased (need two for the office) and the first one still looks like it did new after 1 1/2 years. Although it moves slightly on carpet I feel you will get that somewhat so that is not a deal breaker. They are expensive but less expensive than replacing lesser pads all the time.
