It's much better than the one I had previously but it is pitting where the carpet is matted. It is not rigid as I had hoped.

Staples®; High Pile Carpet Chair Mat

I have had this chair mat for about two months and so far. so good. I have a short pile commercial carpet. I measured the carpet thickness with a bent open paper clip and found the thickness as three quarters of an inch. I previously owned the "medium pile" mat from Staples that in about one year developed a large hole. Once you get a crack it's just a matter of time before the entire mat gets a big hole. I compared the thickness on this "high pile" mat to the "medium pile" mat that had the big hole. The "high pile" is definitely thicker. I weigh over 250 pounds and my chair has five wheels touching the mat. This mat shows chair wheel dents that go away when I get off the chair. So far no cracking. This mat does not slide around on my carpet as other buyers have complained. I recommend that you spend a few extra dollars for this thicker mat. Like I said the Staples "medium pile" mat did not last very long here.

CHAIR MAT TOO SOFT!

This Chair Mat is too soft. I even purchased extra large chair casters to more evenly spread the weight. It did help. There are depressions on the mat and I can't slide along it.
