The mat rolled out easily, and after a day of the edges being weighted down, now lays perfectly flat. So far, it appears to be sturdy. I believe a chair mat is crucial for a home office to avoid damage to home carpeting (which is often more delicate than heavy-duty industrial carpeting found in offices.

Might be OK with low pile or bare floor, but NOT with Med pile carpet. Not hard/stiff enough. chair wheels sink into mat.
