I read mixed reviews of people in the same weight range plus the chair weight stating completely opposite opinions. I got the mat and used 1 day before leaving on a trip. Dimples formed easily under the wheels still could move about but had to exert extra effort to get out of the dimpled wheel wells. The carpet we have was just installed with the best padding available but it was almost impossible to move about. Some type of chair pad/mat was definitely needed. Definitely better with mat than without one. When we returned home from our trip two weeks later dimples were under all the wheels just from the chair weight alone. The mat is for a high pile carpet but seems too soft. I have a concern that over time the chair wheels will cause the mat to crack. There are not many choices out there for residential high pile mats. The vast majority are for commercial low pile type mats.

Better than softer mats but not perfect

Minimal packaging (label only) which is great. Delivered flat; does NOT come rolled as others I have purchased (and now discarded). Made of firm sturdy appearing plastic but is not unbendable. Plastic is softer than I like; still functional. Yes the chair casters create dents. Worse with longer day duration use high end high pile carpeting and heavier users but less of an issue than with softer mats. Bonus: This mat has not been "creeping" on my floor - great to put it in place and know it will not move!

Quality worth the money

I first bought one of the chair mats for "medium" pile. I had actually measured by using a straightened paper clip and my carpet pile plus pad was exactly 3/4 inch thick as they specified... but my chair left dents in the plastic and I'm only 180 pounds. So... I returned it (Staples is very good about that) and ordered this heavier one (that they call 'high' for up to 1 inch thick carpet/pad combination). It is definitely the better choice. Move up a thickness compared to the basic rating and you'll be happier with your purchase!

Ball chair rolls easily now. Was getting stuck in moderate pile twist broadloom. I'm not a lightweight. Recommended

The mat does not stay in place and the material is very soft so my 140# sitting in my chair makes dents with the roller feet and the chair gets stuck in the indention.

Carpet Chair Mat

My Chair is leaving dents in my 45X53 High Pile Carpet Chair Matt. Lip. I do not know if they are permanent or not. I believe I would prefer a thicker Chair Mat that does not bend around the casters on my chair. I am afraid this mat will crack with repeated use. I have had the Chair but a week. I will continue to use it until I can determine if Matt is going to crack up like the last one or not.
