I purchased a mat for a flat pile rug but the mat is too soft and chair has difficulty gliding over it. Better than nothing.

This mat spans the edge of a very low pile rug. the covered edge of the rug spans underneath where my feet end up when I'm sitting comfortably at my desk. This mat fixes the obvious problem of the rug edge lifting up from being kicked dragged and wheeled over multiple times a day. It is also versatile enough to "fit" on both the hard wood floor and the low-pile rug.

I should have listened to the reviewer who said the mat is too soft. The wheels sink well into the mat. It feels like the chair is directly on the carpet. Lots of rolling resistance.

Since I use a 6' folding table for multiple tasks this allows me to move sideways from one task area to another not just pull up to desk edge. For my setup bigger is a whole lot better.
