It gets the job done. It allows my chair to roll over my rug. I wish it were harder though it indents easily under the wheels and while my chair rolls it doesn't roll easily.
Although it's easier for my chair to roll across the carpet this mat could be thicker because the chair wheels make dents in it and get stuck. The chair mat also shifts and doesn't stay in place.
Life is full of choices and depends on what you want. These vinyl floor matts come in different thicknesses and basically the more traffic and weight behind the desk will determine the longevity of the matt. But they are vinyl and unless you are going to be in sock feet over time they loose their crystal clear transparency and the longer you use the same one they will take on a dingy or yellowing look. I used to use the 1/2 inch thick ones that cost $59 to $75 and would hold up for 5 years or so but they only looked good for 12 months. However I prefer that they always look good (brand new shiny and clear so I can see the carpet. So with this thickness and heavy use 6 days a week 10 hours per day for a 6’1” and 220 weight man it is going to have a 12 month life but for $25 big deal. My wife has one that has looked pristine for 2 and 1/2 years but she uses desk/ mat only 1 hr 2x per wk.
it took three days to flatten out. it did come quickly. it slides a couple inches every day even on the carpet. I wish I'd spent more to get something solid.
