I think my carpet is a medium pile and I have been using this chair mat for a couple of weeks and it has some pretty serious dimples where the wheels of the chair sit. I make sure the chair is not in exactly the same place on the mat as I believe that would make the dimples worse. I will keep an eye on it and update in the future.

I purchased one of these about a year ago to use at my desk in my home. After about six months of regular use the mat began to split in many places. When clear tape would no longer keep the mat together I bougt a new one. It has saved the wear and tear on the carpet and provides a smooth rolling surface for my office chair. DO NOT step on the wrong side of the mat it will draw blood!
