Better To Buy The Thicker One

I just moved into a new home/office and needed to set up a desk area with chair and chair mat. My new house has deep pile carpet and I knew that the office chair would destroy it and be difficult to manuver on. So I purchased this chair mat thinking it would solve my problems no such luck. The mat refuses to stay in place although it has tines on the back to grab the carpet. As I roll over it during the day it migrates its way under the desk where it bunches up in a big wave. I then must pull it back to its original location and stand on the wave to flatten it out. This happens at least three times a day. I am contemplating getting a different brand.

I put this chair mat on a low pile carpet but the mat had a tendency to creep forward which eventually put it in contact with my desk. It happened repeatedly. Not good. The legs of the chair also left an indentation on the mat. Not good.

The mat is fine. BUT it was rolled up and secured with packing tape. The tape left a residue to which dirt sticks.
