I believe the label on the mat said for medium carpet which is what I had. But my chair wheels would immediately put a visible dent in the pad and prevent the chair from easily rolling around. Maybe this pad would work on a hard surface floor but I can't imagine any scenario where it would work on carpet.

Since I have carpet in my home office I needed to put down a mat-like item underneath both office chairs (one at the computer and one at the desk). Putting this chair made sitting at both places much easier. Be careful of the back as you are putting it down as the grippers are sharp but once it’s down it doesn’t move too much because of those grippers. Very reasonably priced too - it will protect the carpet which is so much more costly to replace!
