Improved over the past

Staple's previous versions had sharp platic cleats which cut into your fingers and the carpet. This version has a better design with plastic pegs that do not stab you when installing. They now also use a plastic band to package it in a roll unlike previous wide tape which left glue all over the mat. Previous versions only lasted about a year before cracking and then stabbing your feet with shards if you take off your shoes. This version only has a one year guarantee as well but it was half price on sale.

I bought this carpet protector as a replacement for one I purchased over 1 year ago. Even though my carpet is deeper than 1/8" I expect the heavy duty material to last long past that.

Chair mat ’s basic purpose is to protect carpet from wheels of desk chair. I spend more time readjusting the mat than working at my desk. We have an area rug that covers most of our office/den. The prongs on the bottom of the chair mat evidently do not stop the mat from moving as much as 12-15 inches away from it’s initial position so we simply pretend it’s a play date for my carpet and let the two of them enjoy themselves. Actually it’s rolled up and not in use and I don’t have time to return it at the present so they chair is back on the carpet where it started from.

Less than two months after purchase the chair mat is cracking and has holes in it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
