I am not to sure about the mat since the chair I bought at the same time keeps so much noise not sure if the mat is having an impact.

This so called pad is so thin it barely allows a desk chair to move freely. I cannot recommend it.

The Chair Mat with Lip works really well for now. We had one long time ago but it wore out. However we just purchased a new one until we put our wood floors in. Then we will need to purchase one for the wood floors.

This chair mat does what I was looking for it to do: protect the carpet flooring and not float as a move around in my office chair.
