This mat protects the carpet and makes it easier to roll when seated. After sitting for a while it dimples under the castors and would be better if it were stiffer. That being said it is significantly better than nothing but carpet.

Good Thickness QUICK Delivery easy install just let lay in sun for about an hour it will flatten out and relax so you can easily put under your desk. If that doesn't work try placing some heavy books on any area that is curled up that will help it to flatten out. I would have paid a little more if it could have been about 4" to 6" longer (36" x 48") 36" x 53" would have been perfect. However the width is exactly right for my desk. I looked and compared it to other chair mats before purchasing but nothing compared to this one for the price. if I sit in the same place for a long time it will indent the mat but it recovers a short time later. This is due to the fact that the carpet underneath the mat is somewhat plush and not a fault of the mat itself. Would purchase it again if in the market for another mat.

the pad thickness is thiner than my previous pad and hence allows the coaster wheels to sink into the surface making it difficult to move the chair. was not obvious when I purchased it . It appeared to be the same thickness and hardness. The store did not have options as shown online for better pads.
