The size and the material are very practical but it is too thin. The wheels sink into the mat leaving indentations in it. It is difficult to roll around as needed.
The mat itself is nice and would be perfect for a low-pile carpet. However it is described as being for a medium-pile carpet which isn't accurate. The cleats are only about 1/8 inch long. This means the chair you are using will not have enough support for the rollers which will sink deep into the mat causing too much flex. Within a couple of years the material ages and gets less flexible. This will cause the mat to crack. Was replacing a mat with the same type of cleats so speaking from experience.
Chair Mat seems ‘one size’ smaller than I measured out at my desk. I’m 275 lbs and the wheels on chair do sink into the mat after working at desk for a few hours so need to stand in order to reposition chair. I am skeptical if the mat will prevent wear and tear on the carpet. This mat is thin plastic but durable. Hard rubber thicker ‘gym’ mat may be better for me. Price makes purchase worth a try.
This is a good floor mat. My old one (also from Staples 10 or so years ago) finally fell apart and I have the same hopes that this one will last for a long time.
Beware when ordering this. I have black tar on the bottom of it that I am afraid will get on my carpet so I had to put a piece of cardboard over it. Also it comes in a heap that you can't get straighten out. I have a big ripple right in the middle of it. Very disappointed in Staples that they don't roll the carpet mat up so this don't happen. This is a quite expensive item to be delivered in that condition.
