I use it on a carpet without padding and your chair will sink into it and make it hard to move around.

Bought this mat for the home office. Was looking for smaller dimensions than a standard chair mat and this size fit the bill for the small space. On our dark stained floors this mat blends in very well and is only noticeable upon a second glance.The only drawback is that it slides some despite having an extremely heavy office chair with 5 casters on top of it.I noted the expense as a con.
