Seems durable but over a thick carpet it forms pockets that you get stuck in. These are not permanent and the mat returns to original shape.

The mat is perfect for thick pile carpet. Must be careful though as the chair rolls so easily that it may roll off on to carpet turning over. Another warning the smell can be pretty strong.

The chair is very comfortable. Solid chair and will be enjoyed for a while. Easy assembly although the brown plastic caps to cover the screws on the arm rest are a pain to add and or do not fit. I called customer service and they are sending the parts out for new caps which is awesome.
