They are difficult to roll on. Yes I do have short-worn-down pile and didn't want to spend any more than I did. However being a secretary all my life I do know that heavier/thicker chair pads were available. These were super for rolling any size office chair.

This artist's studio now sports a neat sturdy and compact large floor mat to protect the broadloom when the painter "tears loose". It's a lot nicer than an oil cloth! Economical enough so that it can be replaced when it gets too covered with paint droppings. The cat loves it too!
