I bought a similar mat for my carpet (from Staples) and it turned out to be too flimsy. The chair rollers sank into the thin plastic mat. So I returned it and upgraded to this "heavier" mat (again from Staples) which should be good for my 1/2 to 3/4" pile carpet. Unfortunately this mat isn't much thicker than the lower model mat and the rollers still sink into the mat and the chair can't move out of the depressions in the mat! Basically it's totally useless!! I'm tired of returning things to Staples so I've just given up and will eat the cost of the mat and try somewhere else... I can not recommend this mat to anyone.
Haven't had it very long. I am over 200lbs so I sink a little. I've rotated it occasionally. Hasn't slipped so the sinking was sort of expected for the price. It actually does help keep the chair in place ... and I easily "pop" out to roll. The spikes aren't anywhere near as deadly LOL as they were in the past. I'd give it 5 stars for the cost and quality if I didn't sink... but I think I probably would with a $100 one anyway.
Needed this for a new job that is home-based. It doesn't move much so that part is at least correct. But it does indent very easily. I am only 170 pounds and my chair is constantly making huge indents in the plastic while I am sitting on it. They almost completely go away when I move my chair out of the holes. But it is still really annoying.

Dents to where I can't move - 2 hours use

I weigh 140 pounds the chair I use weighs about 15 to 20 - and I'm allowing for some additional weight just to be safe. Within 2 hours of putting this mat into use there are dents in the plastic so deep I cannot move the chair out of them. If I were a 6 foot 4 inch man weighing 250 pounds I could see this happening. I'm 5 foot 7 140 pounds. Absolute garbage - rolling chair can't roll on the mat due to weak bendable construction - perhaps this is a memory foam mat.
The chair mat creates divots within a few minutes of sitting in the chair and makes it difficult to move around on teh chair rollers. I would not recommend this mat.
I wish I could have gotten a matt custom made for thesize of the area I needed it for. I might have preferred one with a lip on the edge to keep my chair from rolling off when I move around. It's taking some getting use to but I think it will serve the purpose of protecting the carpet.
