WHY DIDN'T I BUY THESE SOONER?

The church sends out monthly newsletter and hall rental contracts. Previously I had been trying to stuff these into business-size envelopes and taping them so they didn't pop open. Why didn't I think of buying these larger envelopes sooner? These envelopes allow room for a good amount of pages and the rip-off tab seals them efficiently and quickly. A time-saver for me!
The size and paper stock were very nice but the construction was not inspected like it should have been. THe adhesive strips on many envelopes were not applied properly causing the gum adhesive to come off in the printer ruining a toner cartridge. This adhesive also caused paper jams as the envelopes would stick together. We did not realize the problem until we were well into the project.
Many of the envelopes came open in transit and the return envelopes we had enclosed were lost. If we need to tape the envelopes closed what's the point of spending extra money for self-sealing?
These self sealing enevlopes are much faster and more secure than the gummed version. This makes a difference when you have a thousand 6 x 9 catalogs to mail out. The Staples gummed 6 x 9 envelopes while less expensive require a moistening wheel or sponge and do not seal consistently. Catalog sealing is at least 2 times as fast with these. These are also useful when only a few are required at a time since you do not have to deal with moistening the envelope gum. The only improvement on these would be to make the peel off strip recyclable versus throwaway.
