The mat is sturdy and thick. Our carpeting is very thin so even though it does deform from the chair feet it's not that bad. If your carpet is thicker you may have trouble with the plastic deforming too much - making rolling difficult and future cracks inevitable. Still it's a decent price for probably a couple of years worth of use on our carpet.

I am extremely disappointed with this product. It moves constantly so it and the carpeting look terrible. This is not what I wanted. My old one never moved but was replaced due to a crack. I would have been better off keeping the old one.

right size but too soft

The mat is just the right size for a small corner desk and is protecting the carpet. But it is too soft unlike a larger mat I previously bought from Staples and so it has quickly developed dents where my chair casters are which force the chair to drop into the the same position day after day even if I want to be at a slightly different angle.
