Perfect for laminate flooring

Regardless of where you look the selection of chair mats for hard floors is very limited. Nonetheless this model is good for the price. Admittedly a rectangular (no tongue) model would be more preferred. However I found cost goes up substantially with size and shape. This is good for average sized rolling office chair.

wanted to use this to protect my carpet but my carpet is thick and the mate is to thin for this thickness of carpet.

Just What I Wanted

My workstation for my home office is in the dining room. This mat is protecting my hardwood floors from futher damage from my rolling desk chair. It is well worth the cost and does the job for which I purchased it. It does tend to move over time but I spend about four hours per day at the workstation and have to reposition it maybe every two weeks. That's a minor inconvenience. If you need to move a significant distance (to access a printer fax or file cabinet etc.) it may be too small so pay attention to the size.

does not work well on shag carpet

I use it in my home office and the floor is carpeted and it doesn't work well. It will not let my chair roll very easy.
