First mat bought last year was too thin ffor deeper pile worked ok while new and flexiblie. After aging and becoming brittle after a few months small cracks started then more cracks till it started breaking off in middle of pad where most of the wear occurs. Will check this one from time to time to see if it becomes brittle and cracks during the warranty period.
This is the 3rd mat we've bought. We have pine floors in our house and don't want to risk damage to such soft wood & these mats are a great way to do that. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because of the need to air them outside for a few hours due to the "off-gassing" with new mats. I had to drive home with the car windows open and then leave the mat outside until evening and even that didn't completely get rid of the smell of new rubber mats. Aside from that these mats do protect the floors from the chair wheels which is why we bought them
This Chair mat if obviously used on carpet because of the spiked backing. However unless you have some super hard carpet in your office this chair mat WILL crack and start to fall apart from the chair wheels rolling back and forth. Mine lasted just about 1 year but stated to crack within 4-5 months. Now that large chunks are missing it's finally unusable. My office carpet is the standard tight weaves closed loop kind you would find anywhere. This char mat is designed to fail; too thin & too soft... You have been warned; only with I followed the advice of the other reviewers...
