Very soft material

This mat is made of a soft flexible material which allows the chair rollers to sink into the mat. I left the empty chair on the mat overnight and there were sink hole caused by just the weight of the chair. So if you sit in the chair for just a few minutes the chair will sink far enough into the mat that you'll not be able to move the chair without getting up and moving it. I am returning this mat and looking for one that is more rigid. I have a medium height carpet of 3/4" and that is what this mat is supposed to work on. I think it would probably work fine on a much shorter carpet pile like a commercial type of carpeting. It did grip without any shifting and was somewhat thick.

OK But Should Be Heavier More Rigid

The description says it's for use on carpets up to 1" thick including padding but on my carpet (which qualifies) the chair depresses the mat enough that it won't move easily out of the depression...you have to really forcefully scoot it into moving. The mat is otherwise attractive and protective but it just isn't rigid enough to allow the chair to move easily. When this mat starts to show breakdown it will be replaced with a bamboo one as I have in my second PC location. They're the best!

Even though my office chair has large rollers and the chair mat had the highest rating for resisting indentations on carpet this mat does not adequately resist indentation.

Perfectly suits my needs

I have a medium high pile (sort of like shag) carpeting where my desk and chair are. This mat is the perfect size so I can roll in my chair over to my filing cabinet from my desk with ease! The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it came with this REALLY sticky residue tape securing it closed in the box that I am struggling to get off completely. Dirt and items stick to it. I have used Goo Gone and other products and still it won't come off! If it weren't for that it would be 5 stars for sure!
