This chair mat has adequate thickness to protect the floor yet is thin enough that it doesn't "trip" the casters on the desk chair. The pattern blends in nicely with oak hardwood flooring and definitely serves to protect the floor from the wear and tear of a wheeled desk chair. It does tend to slide on the hardwood floor when moving on or off the mat. The mat would benefit from a thin "sticky strip" or friction strip located on underside of the forward edge well away from the rolling area.

THE MAT WAS DELIVERED IN BAD CONDITION

I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW THE DELIVERY MAN WAS CONVINCED TO LEAVE THE MAT IN MY OFFICE IN THE CONIDTION IT WAS IN !!! ALL WRINKLED !!! ALL BENT OVER !!! NOT AT ALL ADEQUATE FOR USE !!! I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO A LOCAL STORE AND GET CREDIT FOR IT !!! I ASKED THE MANAGER AT THE STORE ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THESE MATS !!! HE ANSWERED THEY ALL COME WRINKLED AND BENT OVER !!! THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT !!! I HONESTLY BELIEVE THEY SHOULDE DELIVER THEM IN BOXES AND NOT ALL DAMAGED AND WRINKLED !!! I HOPE SOMEONE READS THIS MESSAGE BECAUSE THE EXPERIENCE IS NOT ENCOURAGING TO ORDER ANYMORE ITEMS ON LINE !!!

The mat is "ok" it definately need to be wider by at least 6 inches- a foot. If you slide your office chair back to get up it is VERY close to rolling off. Also the backing of the mat needs to be non-slip. Its a plastic and still slides & moves on my wood floor.
