Seal not adequate
on January 14, 2013

I use a lot of 10x13 first class envelopes for business and it seems harder and harder to find a 28 lb envelope that does not break the bank. The price and the weight of these envelopes are right on but the seal is inadequate. You can undo the seal at anytime and reopen the mail and seal again without anyone being the wiser. Our business deals with people's personal information and so these envelopes do not work since everyone requires sealing with tape just to close properly. The cost savings for these is just not worth it for my business use. I am not even sure I would send general mail in them with fear everything would fall out.

Used to mail all our larger client tax papers. Easy to use and address with labels. Very cost effective.

These envelopes work great & save money!

I LOVE these envelopes. I used to ship things via USPS Priority at like $5.00 an envelope but with these USPS First-Class envelopes the shipping cost now ranges from $1.70 to about $2.40 so I actually make money on the S&H fees simply by switching over to these envelopes. Their 10" x 13" size allows you to fit even larger envelopes and chipboards (when you need some rigidity) and I can actually fit small gift boxes inside too even when packaged in little bubble-mailers for added protection.

Glue ineffective - I had to scotch-tape all envelope flaps to ensure that the envelope would not open in transit

Envelopes do not seal well
on January 31, 2013

The 10 x 13 self sealed envelopes do not seal well. It is necessary to put tape on the edges or your envelope will open and documents and papers will be lost. Years ago this products seal was more dependable and much more secure. This factor must be improved drastically. The envelopes themselves are attractive and relatively strong. They hold quite a lot of content. Yet Staples should be concerned that it is selling a "self sealing envelope that fails to deliver its advertised purpose. The bottom line is that you should not have to use tape to securely seal a "self sealing envelope.

Have gotten used to the large tyvek envelopes we have utilized for some time in our law office. Thought I would give these non-tyvek but less-expensive ones a try. Decent affordable hopefully "do the job" but believe my next purchase will be tyvek...."a luxury once acquired becomes a necessity"....
