I wanted better thought i was getting it.....

I had a chair mat from Staples that had developed cracks after just about a year and a half. I had picked the last one based on the carpet depth as instructed. But it still cracked--so I decided i needed a thicker/stronger one. Should be easy right? Boy that was naive. The sheer number of chair mats available is staggering. So is the real lack of any real differentiating information. I finally picked one that was .185 thick hoping this was thicker than the last one. It certainly is more expensive. Delivery was quick. it was NOT rolled up which made installation super easy. The new style WITHOUT the super annoying pointy spikes is wonderful. Roll chair out on it and it sinks in just like the previous one. Disappointing is way too mild of a word. I fully expect to have to replace this in a year like the other one.

The mats I purchased are much thicker than previous ones we purchased. Hopefully won't crack like previous ones. Remember look for the thickness of mats before choosing by price!

We had to put screws all around the mat to make it stay flat and not curl. I tripped twice before we put more screw in than the 2 holes that were provided. It cut my toes each time. We had to put 7 screws in to get it to lay flat.
