Too flimsy. Even on flat pile even without a person sitting in the chair the chair itself leaves depressions from which you then need to pull yourself out. Same idea but with thicker and harder material would work much better.
It was easy to lay down relatively speaking. After all it does have plastic spikes on the bottom. It laid flat immediately without any problem. I wish it had been as easy to remove my old one as it was to lay down this one. It was easy to roll my chair onto the mat & it smoothly rolls around on it. I'm glad I made the investment & sorry I waited so long to replace my old one that had been falling apart for weeks.
I got this on sale on staples.com and their delivery service delivered it the next dat. I was not in a package or rolled up so I didn't have to battle with it to get back to its original shape. I am using this in my home office which has a thick carpet. It's been great. I couldn't be happier. My Staples Rewards credits made it an even better purchase.
This chair mat is installed on a low pile (1/8" or so) commercial carpet with a pad underneath it. So far the chair makes some depressions in it but not so bad that you get "stuck" in them. It does have a lifetime warranty according to the website however no paperwork to that effect came with it. I am pleased with its performance so far but it's only been in use for less than a week.
What can you really say about a chair mat. It does its job well. It is made of a durable plastic that didn't crack when weight was applied. I would recommend this to a friend that was looking for a chair mat.
I don't expect a lot of life from this mat. The chair casters indent into the mat (like getting stuck in a pothole) making it difficult to move the chair after a short period of sitting. It probably will start to crack in less than a year and then self-destruct like my previous 4-5 mats. They (Staples? or mfg.) used to have a warranty on chair mats but I haven't seen a warranty offered in quite a few years. I guess they had make good on too many replacements.
