Followed all of the directions - before end of 1st day depression where chair sat. Only positive is it covers the rug. I am 5'6" and weigh 145 lbs. this was guaranteed to last "a lifetime". Well so much for that.
This is a great quality mat. The 45 x 53 size is perfect for the chair to move around freely. It was delivered slightly rolled up and upon putting it down it immediately lay flat on the floor. It does not slide around or roll up at the corners. I am very happy with it. I don't understand the complaints some reviewers have.
I was looking for a chair mat with a lip to go under my desk at home which sits atop laminate wood floors. The mat was shipped and delivered earlier than expected and it fits great. The smell of the plastic was a bit overwhelming for my small office but it subsided within a day or two. It protects my floors which is why I wanted it. Overall an excellent purchase.
This is the second one we have purchased. They wear out after a long while but we find this product to be of high value. We are very pleased with it. It came faster than we thought it would and was very easy to install.
It's extremely difficult to find a chair mat engineered for carpet anymore. In my case glass is not an option and I don't wish to pay upwards of $200 for what's essentially a sheet of plastic. My hope was this "medium pile carpet chair mat" would perform as well as the mat it's replacing. I got my hopes far too high. I read the reviews and there has been a consistent complaint. The "bars" on the underside do not hold the mat in place. My former mat had good old fashioned spikes and NEVER moved. I thought this mat would be okay because one corner would be pinned in place by a desk caster and the opposite corner pinned by a small table. I thought wrong. Everyday it continues to rotate more in a clockwise direction while in bunches up at the desk caster. After a week it has completely walked out from under the table leg. Add to this the fact it's extremely soft. My desk chair sinks into it so deeply that it becomes difficult to roll out of the potholes. This problem didn't occur with the old mat until it was nearly 15 years old and the chair casters would catch in age cracks. For the record I did the "paperclip test" and verified the uncompressed carpet and padding is only 5/8" thick -- easily below the rated 3/4" limit. I don't know what the solution is to getting a reasonably priced chair mat that works properly with carpet. All I can say is this mat is certainly NOT a good solution.
The chairmat was delivered on the promised day and seems to be just what we expected. It was easy to place now the only question is its durability which only time will tell. That's why I couldn't give five stars.
