These were exactly what we needed in our office-good and sturdy quality but still just a basic chair mat. Lays flat and is the perfect size for the area around your chair. Also protects the carpet from spills if you happen to be one who tends to eat lunch at your desk.

Slippery Mat

I purchased this mat for a high pile carpet. It slides all over the place even though I've got it held down by my PC on one side and the leg of my desk on the other. I've been in touch with Customer Service and was told that this is what I ordered. So now I'm stuck with it. I tried to explain that this mat does not work on a high pile carpet as it's described but got nowhere. This mat has nubs on the bottom that are very short and rounded so it doesn't grip the carpet at all. Don't waste your money. It certainly isn't worth it. My last chair mat came from Staples and I thought this one would be as good. WRONG. I'll never order another one online. .

I figured when I received this that it might move all over the floor without all the little nobs on the bottom. But it is really staying put which pleased me a lot.

Nice chair mat

Time will tell how long it will last. It is thicker than my last one so hopefully it will last longer. Although this is the thickest mat that Staples or Office Depot offer and is rated for 1" carpeting it is like the minimum thickness suitable for home use. I have 1/2" carpet with a 3/8" mat for 7/8" total not exactly high pile by home standards but barely within the 1" rating. Before I ordered it I had some doubts about the rectangular studs but they seem to work fine and the mat stays in place. Staples lists the mat as being made of resin which I couldn't find described on the web but the mat looks and acts like a vinyl mat. Maybe it is vinyl. In any case it it seems fine.

Too thin

My carpet is within the 3/4" parameter and my chair still sinks into it and make dents that the chair gets stuck in.
