The pad gets significant depressions from the wheels on my desk chair. It will take some time to see if they lead to cracking and deteriorization of the chair mat.
I have medium pile carpet but this mat is not holding up to it very well -- every time I sit in my office chair the mat gets deep dents in it which don't come out completely after I've moved the chair. I've had other Staples chair mats that have dented but I thought I would be buying a mat that was sturdier. The mats I've had in the past even with the dents have lasted fairly well so I'm not sending this one back but it's not really what I expected.
I am very pleased with the Flat Pile Carpet Chair Mat. The Mat is a perfect fit for my computer desk and chair. What I like the most about the see through Mat is that my office has carpet on the floor and you can see the carpet through the Mat. Can hardly tell that I have a Mat under my chair. So glad that I purchased it and I want to thank Staple's staff for helping me order it while in the store. The delivery came as promised by the staff.
I was directed to the display of mats - it didn't seem to have what I wanted. Fortunately a "manager" came by and brought me to his "desk." There we found exactly what i wanted. It was delivered the next day and installed the following day. Great!
Staples did what they said when I ordered it came the next day. There was a problem with the first one and we refused it however it was replaced and a new one delivered the very next day. It is performing very well. It was probably a bit pricey overall but if it performs well and we do not have to replace for a long time worth the investment to save my carpet. Thank You Staples!
This mat is not very thick - it is fine for very LOW pile carpet and a medium weight user and for my purposes it works. It does bend under the wheels somewhat and with a heavy person it might be hard to roll around because of the indents made by the chair wheels. But it is not flimsy. It came rolled which in itself is not an issue but it was taped closed with clear packing tape and then obviously left in a hot warehouse because the adhesive from that tape was nearly impossible to remove! Tried GooGone WD 40 and rubbing alcohol spent well over an hour and a LOT of elbow grease trying to get it all off and I still have sticky spots on the at where dirt is starting to build up. Had I known cleaning it up would be such a nightmare I would have paid more for a mat that is packaged differently. Bottom line - if you can afford it get a mat that comes flat or rolled in a box but not taped.
