I have a medium pile carpet and I purchased this chair mat specifically because the description said "this chair mat stays firmly in place". However this is definitely not the case as I have to re-position it every few hours. Very frustrating!

One of STAPLES associates recommended this special flat pile carpet chair mat by asking if I wanted for wooden floor or carpet and he showed me the spikes on the reverse of the mat to hold it in its place. The store associate indicated the mat might work on 3/8" residential carpet. Although it is better than no mat it quickly develops depressions from the chair casters. It would appear the other thicker mat would work better.

heavy duty chair mat

delivery was very quick. Mat was as described. Hopefully it will last longer than the previous Staples heavy duty mat which was about 5 years. Carpet is 3/8-1/2" thick so wheels (dual flat type) press in to mat eventually cracking the vinyl.

Our office chair would not roll on it easily it was very hard to do. Made immediate dents and afraid with longtime use it would crack. We plan to return it.
