The mat is over what I would consider an average home carpet pile. After sitting in my 5 wheel office chair for a few minutes the wheels sink in. It is difficult to roll. The mat is too flexible or soft for home carpet

Time will tell if dents form under the chair wheels. I followed other's advice to get the next thicker mat than what the carpet "requires." So far so good.

My carpet is not totally flat but a very low pile carpet. This mat is too thin for even low pile. The feet of my chair make impressions in the mat after sitting for a while in one spot. Read the description with that in mind.
