Why do you buy a mat? So chair's rollers won't press into carpet and chair will roll easily. Neither happens with this mat. The castors will dig into the mat and chair will not roll. If you don't get up and move the chair periodically it will dent through the mat into the carpet. I weigh 165 lbs so nothing out of ordinary there.
The description on-line lead me to believe this was a heavy duty mat for use on a thick carpet but it is no better at resisting divots from the wheels of a rolling chair than my old flimsier mat. [...]
This is my 2nd chair mat for this year...my 4th in 5 yrs...normally they last me about 1 year but this one didn't. Having read ALL the reviews on more expensive mats [really more expensive] I decided to go w/this one since it seems to last just about as long as the others. My carpet is not extremely thick nor very thin and I am of average weight [150] so the fact that the mats ALWAYS crack and eventually just give up seems to be endemic to the product! Hope they come up w/one that will last longer then 6 months!
The comments about sum it up. A larger one would be nicer but this is adequate. It has the same anti-static benefits - also the same "keep the carpet clean and unworn" benefits as the more expensive brands. The main thing I would say on this is that it could be bigger. Hence the "adequate" rating.
We have it on thick carpet and it is too soft the edge curl up when you roll near an edge. Also the teeth aren't large enough to bite into the carpet so it slides around.
