When I bought the mat there were folds in it from what I assume from the original packaging. I was hoping the folds would flatten out. They may in time but who knows. I recommend the product if you can find it already nicely flat.

This chair mat has adequate thickness to protect the floor yet is thin enough that it doesn't "trip" the casters on the desk chair. The pattern blends in nicely with oak hardwood flooring and definitely serves to protect the floor from the wear and tear of a wheeled desk chair. It does tend to slide on the hardwood floor when moving on or off the mat. The mat would benefit from a thin "sticky strip" or friction strip located on underside of the forward edge well away from the rolling area.

I have put off buying a floor mat for quite awhile. This one is almost what I want but it is exactly what I need. I would like for it to be a little thicker because the wheels of my chair indent it.

The Laminate Chair Mat is so much more attractive than the usual clear plastic models. The chair rolls smoothly and quietly on the laminate mat in the home office. There is none of the creaking and cracking that occurs with the clear plastic models. I would recommend the Laminate Chair Mat for home or office use. While we are using the mat on a hard (wood) floor I am looking forward to trying it on a carpeted floor when it is time to replace the clear plastic mat in my business office. Thanks Staples for another great product!
