My carpet and padding is actually thicker than 3/8 and this mat holds up well. Chair rolls smoothly and the carpet is well protected.

I like this mat but have found it makes indents from the wheels of the chair and then doesn't roll as easily. I like the gradual edge because it is not a sudden drop off. Overall pleased.

2 mm thick sturdy plastic. I probably should have gotten the one for medium pile carpet. Maybe it won't indent as much where the wheels of my chair presses down on it. But the short pile one was cheaper so I got that one instead. Will see how long it lasts before these indentations turn into cracks. It was able to unroll and flatten itself in 24 hours in room temperature. Didnt like how the tape used to roll it up for shipping left a sticky residue though. Made in USA.

This chairmat is invisible yet it offers protection from spills and wear and tear on the carpet. It is easy to roll the office chair around on too.
