Chair Mat with Lip

The size matched what I replaced so it worked fine. The old mat was replaced as holes were worn in the mat in the areas where the desk chair wheels came in contact with the mat on repeated occasions over the years. The only regret is that the new mat is thinner than the old one I replaced and I am not confident it will last very long as the desk chair I use is already causing indention's in the mat.
I'd recommend this chair mat. It has held up so far even though it's moderate use. The standard ones at the store crack within a few weeks and completely break apart within a year. I had 3 of that type. Very happy with this one. Doesn't even have any permanent indentations from the chair after a couple months. The carpeting is just over 1/2" thick and the mat moves very little. Maybe slid an inch in since I bought it.

Excellent for thinner carpets

I purchased this as a replacement for a thinner vinyl mat that I used until it fell apart over a period of many years. I use it on low pile Berber carpet sitting directly on a tile floor (no pad under the carpet). HOWEVER I can see that it is soft enough to develop wheel indentations on a thicker pile carpet. Also I bought mine at the local Staples store where it was hanging on a display rack and brought it home flat. It is beefy enough that if it comes rolled up it will take some effort and time to flatten out. It is easy to roll on and it doesn't budge on the carpet. For those with deep pile carpet a rigid chair mat is the best option. Anything that is flexible/vinyl will be a disappointment.
