This item doe not work well on carpet. I have it on a short pile less than 1/2 " and it allows the chair wheels to create dents in the mat making it hard to roll. Not at all impressed.

The mat itself is a decent mat and I would have rated it higher but the way it was shipped to us was deplorable. It was wrapped up in a coil which is fine but it was then secured with the world's stickiest tape. It took me 3+ hours to get the tape and adhesive off with a heat gun razor and 99% alcohol. It should have been wrapped with shrink wrap and I almost returned it for this reason but needed it for a new employee so I couldn't wait for a replacement. Besides it probably would have been sent again in the same state..... If you want this mat buy it in the store!!!
