I would have given this a 5 star as I love this model coffee maker but the carafe this time had a defective lid and leaked water and coffee all over all the time. Fortunately I had bought this coffee maker model before, so once I switched to the old lid.. all is good.

There needs to be a window for pouring water. It is very inconvienent to have to look down in the reservoir to predict amount of water.

Originally purchased in 2001. Gave away still working very well. Repurchase one this year after burning through two inferior brand coffee pots. This one brews hot coffee year after year with not one problem. We use the 1-4 button every pot we brew, I think it makes it a bit hotter. The clock is easy to set as well as the programable brew functions. Simple reliable beautiful!

My only downgrade is the white lines and numbers on the carafe. My eyes are aging and it would be easier to have a darker, not fading color.
