Best watch I ever had for health metrics
on February 17, 2022

Previously used the Garmin Vivoactive 4 which was great but the Epix offers so much more (including onboard Maps). I was waiting for the Fenix 7 but the Epix has the same features with the Amoled screen. It's lightweight and the perfect size. Much easier to read when working out and extremely customizable.

This is the watch I’ve been waiting for

I’ve been a fan of Garmin sports watches for the past 10 years. But I’ve always struggled with the display. I eventually switched into Apple Watch because of the AMOLED display.
Finding the Apple Watch a pain with battery life and inaccurate measurements, I went back to my trusty Garmin Fenix 6X. Then…the Epix 2 hit. This thing gives me all the metrics I could want, amazing battery life, AND an AMOLED screen. Absolutely love it.

Wanted the features of the Fenix 7 series but with the flexibility and resolution of the AMOLED screen. Epix 2 is a big success.

Sold my Fenix 6 Pro for the Epix...amazing interface, really fast, and great functions. Battery lasts about 6-7 days with full functionality.

Powerful and Elegant

I am a long term 5X user and was waiting for the 7X, but the Epix Gen 2 with its amoled screen looked like it would suit my needs perfectly.
I use the Epix for a variety of sports... MTB, Road Cycling, Trail Running, SUP and Hiking. My requirements for battery life match what the Epix provides. I've finished 2 weeks of thorough testing.
Week 1 was using AOD for both General Use and Activities and the battery lasted 6.5 days with an hour or 2 of activities daily in All Satellite Mode.
Week 2, I simply changed from AOD to Disabling AOD in General Use but using Gestures and using AOD and Gestures during Activities. On day 7 after a morning bike ride, I have 5 days of smartphone life remaining or 29%.
Added features for me coming from the 5X is Trail Running V02max, Updated HR Monitor, Music and Payments. And then there is the amoled screen, which is Fantastic.
The amoled screen and the addition of the touchscreen are really beneficial when utilizing the map. Instead of many button presses and the tedious process to move the screen position, it's now fast and intuitive. Tap the screen and tap + or _ to zoom in or out, then swipe to move the screen. Very cool.
Other enhancements are the health metrics like HRV, Pulse OX, and Stamina, I appreciate when viewing my activities and status in Garmin Connect.
Size wise the Epix Gen 2 is a good fit for me. The 5X was a large watch on my wrist, so the medium sized Epix works better. The bonus is that the screen is actually larger on the Epix than my 5X. The Epix is 1.3 while the 5X is 1.2, smaller than the later 6X and 7X. So, coming from the 5X, really met my needs well.
All in all, a great device and it does what I need and wanted and does so with style.

Best Overall Watch On The Market
on February 17, 2022
Posted by: FitGearHunter
I’ve owned the 245, 645, 945, F6, VA, 945 LTE, Venu 2. This is the best of all worlds with the best quality screen, incredible battery life, largest set of training features, mapping, music, and recovery and wellness features on the market by a large margin.

Awesome Device

I bought this device about two weeks ago and I’ve always bought the higher end X pro versions and with this device I feel like this device has all the features and more and adding the touchscreen ability and OLED screen I don’t feel like I’m losing technology versus the other X pro versions, Battery life is amazing I really believe this is the top tier of the Garmin watches and at a 47 mm it’s perfect for my wrist versus the 51 mm, I would recommend this watch for anyone who loves running hiking biking etc. etc.

Finally the Fenix I was waiting for!
on February 17, 2022

I loved my Fenix 6X Pro Solar, but the screen was always a challenge. Very rarely could I read it indoors. I was hoping the new Fenix 7X would fix that. Instead, the Epix 2 arrived!
The screen is excellent - bright, colorful and easily compares to the watches from the smartphone companies (since I can't call them out by name). The battery life is surprisingly good. I have been averaging 7 days with the Always On Display (which is a huge misnomer.) The screen will dim and then go blank if there it senses no movement. Garmin already released an update which improves the active screen time. The screen also defaults to off during bedtime. Third-party watchfaces from the Connect IQ store must be compatible with Always On (another issue). There is no Solar option in the Epix 2 line.
The screen is finally a touch screen too. You can choose between touching or using the standard buttons to trigger Apps and functions.
Almost all of the Fenix Activites, Apps and Glances have been carried over to the Epix. And because of the screen, they look so much better. Heart rate monitor, Pulse Ox and GPS Tracking are what you expect from Garmin. But, enabling Pulse Ox will significantly reduce your battery life just like in the Fenix. There is no EKG function which is disappointing.
Overall, I am thrilled with the Epix 2. Also consider adding the matching Garmin Quickfit 22 Titanium Band to complete the high-end lux look. It's definitely worth it.
