Great new features

I was sent this headlight from coast to try and test for free. I really liked the voice activated features, i work as a mechanic and for me the voice activation is awesome! You have to push the button on the bottom of the lamp and it turns green letting you know that its ready to listen to your commands. When you say the commands the lamp responds right away switching to different commands from spot beam to flood is pretty quick. It makes it easy to just say what type of light you want to use and presto! You can also just use it manually and works the same. I took some pictures of outside with different settings and its lights up my backyard alot. The battery pack is a little big and has a flashing red light so you can turn on and be seen in the dark but it still comfortable wearing it for a while, you can also remove the battery pack and use a separate cable that comes with it so you can clip it to your pocket or wherever you want to making the headlamp a little lighter.
I would recommend this to a friend!

As a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in lighting technology, particularly with diodes and LEDs, I had the opportunity to field test the Coast RL35R Headlamp. This voice-controlled headlamp boasts a range of lighting modes, and my one-week trial yielded a notably positive experience. Coast ask me for an honest review which you may find below. Always keep in mind what your own needs are for any light. This definitely is well worth your consideration.
Pros
- Ease of Use: The headlamp is user-friendly and intuitive.
- Responsive Voice Controls: Commands are recognized and executed swiftly, akin to a smartphone's personal assistant. Even with an accent the lamp had no issues responding to commands.
- Adjustable Settings: A dial allows for fine-tuning of the headlamp's brightness and modes.
- Versatile Lighting Modes: Includes both flood and spotlight options.
- Color Variety: Features blue and green light as well as a red arc lights. A warm white arc option is also included.
- Safety Feature: A rear headlamp in red (on/off/pulsating) enhances visibility from behind for bike rides and other situations where this may be desirable.
- Build: Like other Coast products this feels like a high quality device when you handle it. The design features clean lines and well-thought out when it comes to using it.

- Broad Floodlight Beam: The floodlight mode casts a very wide beam, too wide for my subjective taste.

- Light Dispersion: Due to the lens design, there is noticable light loss in open fields and on wooded trails, which affects the intensity of the beams.

Would I endorse the Coast RL35R Headlamp? Absolutely. This high-quality Coast product impressed me, especially with its voice controls that are both straightforward and easy to recall. The headlamp's responsiveness is on par with the virtual assistants we've grown accustomed to on our phones.

I found the voice controls exceptionally convenient for activities like mountain biking, hiking, hunting, and even for mechanical tasks such as inspecting my truck's engine bay (sorry about all the dirt). For those familiar with Coast's line of products, this headlamp maintains the brand's signature flood and spot beams, ensuring consistency across their range.
While the headlamp excels in close to medium-range illumination, providing ample light in various settings, it may not always meet the needs for long-distance lighting. Nevertheless, Coast products are synonymous with high-quality construction, reliability, and convenience. The added benefit of being able to charge the headlamp in your car or at home, just like a cellphone, using the portable power pack, is a testament to its user-centric design.

Great hands free head lamp

I own several headlamps, XPH35R and XPH25R. Both are great work lights. This one intrigued me since it is voice activated and didn’t know how well it would do. I was impressed. I work in the construction industry and put this light to the test. I like the different light outputs. You do have to learn the commands that start with “coast” such as “coast on” or “coast off”. It did have difficulty understanding the commands in a noisy environment where I had to wear earplugs. I had to move in a quieter environment and the commands were properly. Overall, it a great, tough light.

Voice control is spot on!

I've been very surprised on how well the voice control works. My voice has had issues with other voice controlled items and this works everytime right out the box. Found it great for mixing and applying herbicides/ chemicals. The light is great and bright as to be expected from Coast, really like the arc and different modes. If you need to be hand free buy this!

Works better than I was expecting and is pretty useful. All the voice controls worked perfectly. Long battery life. Comfortable to wear. I like the manual brightness dial to get the perfect lighting while I was at work. At home going in and out of the house at night I just keep the voice control active to turn off and on. I would like the voice features on a smaller headlamp like the XPH30R or the new WPH30R and with work & area lights like the CL40R.

The voice control technology is great for "extremely" hands-free operation per se... The only time you will even have to touch it is putting it on, pushing one button, and taking it off, and the full range of lighting options are phenomenal they work very very well and the voice control is simple and easy to use.

Game changer

The RL35R is the perfect light, Working in the automotive industry there are many times hands free is convenient but voice activated is a total game changer!
I have put this light to the test for the past 6 days and have to say it has exceeded my expectations.
The multiple light functions all have their purpose.
Voice activation works flawlessly even in high noise areas. Especially when I am using my meter in low light conditions and can verbally turn on and off light without having to stop my testing.
Battery life is better then expected with included charge cord and extension cord for battery box to relocate battery to your belt if you don’t want the added weight on the headband. Coast makes quality products I own many and they are my go to for lights!

Bad as super cool

Really cool and functional headlamp. Lights up the woods in the dark. Great for working on vehicles. The voice activated hands free feature lets you get things done faster. Especially if both your hands are busy. The arc light feature I thought at first, "why"? Well it's great, that's why. Softer light that is great for in a tent. 360* lighting. I still haven't explored the many features of this fully. So far it's beyond what I expected reading about it. I will update this review in a few months after hard use. The 3 weeks ve had it, I'm impressed. Coast On!
