Great EDC carry

If you are in the market for a slim EDC carry flashlight, this one is probably the best in the market. Good battery life and brightness, more than other competing models. I like the options when it comes to beam patterns and brightness, and the ability to lock in a favorite mode. For me, when out on the property or hiking, the spot mode will be the one I save.
On the topic of beam patterns, this flashlight has a good range of modes applicable for many situations. For hiking or out taking a walk in the neighborhood, the flood modes are good for illuminating pathways, while if you need to see a distance in detail, the spot mode is really able to throw the light a farther distance. While in spot mode, this flashlight maintains more detail in the beam than other competing models (resists washing out details at distances when illuminating objects). This is notable as the whole point of spot mode is to distinguish what that bump in the night was, and other flashlights that I have used have washed out details making it hard to tell if the animal was fluffy the cat or a racoon.
Only thing I would change about this model is making the pocket clip slightly more deep carry so it sits flush in the pocket. That is a personal preference, as some may like some body to be exposed to be easier to grab out of the pocket. Overall though, the ergonomics on this flashlight are great, as the grooves on the underbody allow you to get a good grip on the light with a solid purchase. Another thing to note is that the pocket clip doesn't have any hot spots in your hand while having a tight grip.

Overall this is a very good EDC light with plenty of brightness and mode options to fit many use cases. A very good attractive design with practical design features make this an easy choice to grab as it molds so nicely into your hand -coast was able to add subtle details in the design of this light to really make it stand out from the competition and look aggressive with a minimal design at the same time. If you are in the market for and EDC of this form factor and are on the fence, this is absolutely better than both other options in the current market, and offers a lot more for the price.

Awesome Addition to my EDC

I received this as part of Coast's Field Tester program, and like all Coast products this light is fantastic.
The overall design of this product is great for pocket carry, the pocket clip is an awesome addition and the flat design works as well.
The light modes are perfect for this product, light is super bright on High Mode! The memory function is also a neat setting.
Overall this is an awesome addition to my Coast Collection.
Highly recommend for anyone especially folks in the trades!

A nice EDC pocket light with high lumen output

It is nice to see Coast entering the fray of the new popular flat bodied lights. The fit and finish is excellent and the contours molded into one side of the light make for an excellent feel in the hand. This is not an ultra small carry but extremely comfortable in the pocket to the point where you can forget you are carrying it until needed.
The pocket clip is removable (used Torx T6 to remove) but leaves two small holes in the body which I do not know if removing the clip impacts the IP67 rating. I submerged the light in a foot of water for half an hour with no impact on performance (clip was attached).
In my opinion it had good light output for inspection tasks, walking down a dark path or into a dark basement but not enough output for huge area flooding or long distance spotting tasks.
The biggest negative I found was that the internal rechargeable battery does not appear to be replaceable. While this seems to be common to all of these newer flat bodied EDC lights I would have liked to seen Coast innovate something beyond the competition here with a replaceable battery.
To me this feels like a premium "smart casual" EDC light that would be a pleasure to pocket carry on a nice evening out rather than a light for a day in the shop. I definitely favor Coast's XP lineup for automotive work but I will really enjoy carrying this on special occasions which may make it a preferred light for folks in other occupations where the style fits more into their daily work.

Small size / Big light

I have been using this light for the last few days. The size makes it easy to fit in a pocket—similar to the size of a pocket knife. At work the flashlight fits into the shroud cutter pocket of my flight suit like it was designed for it.
I have never been impressed with other pen lights—and while this is slightly larger than a pen light—the light output is a great trade off.
The slayer is a great light and I look forward to using it.

When I open the box it came I love that part because the packaging is great
This is what I like so far about this Slayer
Pros: + QUICK-CYCLE-SWITCH-SYSTEM. FIXED FOCUS BEAM SYSTEM.
+ It will charge at a fast rate without getting warm and GREEN led when done!
+ LED thermal management is great the slayer wont get hot in your hand.
+ The tacktile feel of the buttons are strong no accidental turn on
+ No screws hold the case together seems to be one molded diecast body very
strong aluminum alloy with a semi glossy anodized look.
+ Dual LEDs PURE BEAM and BULLS EYE wide light or spot light cool!
+ Beamsaver light mode setting is easy to use.
+ No strobe or SOS a big plus!
+ Removeable belt clip

Impressive light in a small size.

Received this light earlier this week. It came partially charged but it only took about 20 minutes to fully charge. I have had a few other Coast LED lights over the years all of which have been great but this one is in a league of its own. It is very compact and lightweight and very bright. I am a service technician at a car dealership and used this light every day this week, so far have not re-charged it yet. It has 5 brightness modes. (almost too many !)
It has the ability to memorize which setting you prefer which is great.
Overall I would highly recommend this light.
