I found it to be perfect sitting on top of a raised bed .. And the polyethelene cover has twine netting woven into it and was better quality than i expected .. Ill only use it in spring and fall to extend my growing season .. The covering shouls last for quite a few seasons
Nights have dropped to the high 30's and my winter seedlings sprouted while using this cold frame. Easy to put together and works great. I did hang some old outdoor Christmas lights in it to help during the chilly nights, but was not sure whether seeds would sprout. Keeps the inside temperature about 20 degrees higher than outside temp.
100% Recommend. Originally planned to buy 1x material and Poly Sheeting to build a winter cover for our raised garden beds. Stumbled across this product during a materials search. This saved me a trip to the big orange store, a day of labor, materials cost, and if you keep the box intact, can easily be disassembled in the spring. It took 15mins to put up. Quality product.
I bought two different versions of the small portable greenhouses. This particular one was very inexpensive and well enough made to last several seasons as long as one takes care of it. They are lightweight, so anchoring is important. It would not fair well if wind did blow it away and tumble it.
I was a little hesitant buying this at first thinking it was going to be super flimsy, but I am quite impressed. It's not that hard to put together if you pay attention to what you're doing. I did a few rookie moves and put a couple things in the wrong place but got it figured out (read directions!) If it's cold, it will tear if you force it. Once the plastic warms up and becomes more pliable, it's much easier to work with. I really like the size and design. They fit great over vegetable starts and there are light enough that you could move them around easily if you want.
After sliding the braces into the fittings, I gave all the connections a good squeeze once the frame was in place to make sure things were tight. When I slid on the cover, it fit like a glove with enough wiggle room to spare! I then (easily) dragged it around to my backyard garden.
So far, I love it and hope it holds up for many years to come.
I luvvvvv this greenhouse! Easy to put together with one person! Light, yet sturdy. Currently housing my herbs, so I can have year-round access to them for cooking.
It is exactly as described so expect an easy assemble, metal pole into strong plastic joint construction, easy access via zips, and plenty of coverage. I put a board with a bag of compost inside over the poles which is fine whilst I'm using it to harden up seedlings but isn't a very good use of space.
